About me

My approach

I am trained as an integrative therapist with my core approach being Person Centred Therapy. Dependent on your needs and how you like to learn, I will then introduce a number of techniques to help you. I use techniques which are drawn from a range of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Therapy and Schema Therapy.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

After graduating with a BSc in Psychology in 2003 I worked in a number of support roles in the third sector. In 2012 I completed a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and undertook two counselling placements at Swansea Young Single Homeless Project (SYSHP) and The Churches Counselling Service of Wales (CCSOW).

At SYSHP, I counselled clients aged 16-25 who were transitioning from social services care to independent living on a range of issues including substance misuse, family, self harm and suicidal thoughts. At the CCSOW, I counselled clients aged 18 and over on a range of issues.

After completing my Diploma, I started working part-time as a private Counsellor in Swansea. I was also employed by a third sector organisation to support adults with substance misuse and serious mental health conditions using Solution Focused Therapy. Following a relocation to Bridgend in 2017 I started counselling on a weekly basis with Ty Elis Counselling Service in Porthcawl.

Since becoming a qualified Counsellor I have continued to develop my specialist knowledge most recently undertaking training in Schema Therapy and eating disorders and have worked with clients on a short term and long term basis. I am currently counselling clients who are experiencing anxiety and depression, phobias, work related stress, chronic health issues, loss and bereavement issues.
